As we say goodbye to 2025, many of us feel the familiar pull to reflect — to sort through the good and the bad, to celebrate what we’ve survived, and to feel grateful for what we’re leaving behind. It’s become a bit of a tradition to look back on the year with exhaustion, to name the chaos and hope the next one will be kinder. And when we look at the state of the world, at what media feeds us daily, it makes perfect sense.
But what has your year been like?
Last night, I sat with my teens and asked that question. And we realized something surprising: while the world outside felt like it was on fire, our personal bubble had been… gentle. Quiet. Healing. 2025 wasn’t loud, but it was a year of regaining our footing after a few hard ones.
My youngest found a school where they feels safe. They received an autism diagnosis that helped them feel seen, and they rekindled a beautiful old friendship. My oldest has been moving in and out of depression — but more and more, he’s coming out. We have plans. We’re looking ahead with cautious optimism.
We lost our beloved bird, Sunshine. But we welcomed two cockatiels who needed a safe home, and I’m waiting for their feathers to grow back before I introduce them properly (before and after photos included). Our home is now filled with plants, laughter, and a few unexpected friendships that have deeply nourished me.
There’s a man in my life whose presence continues to teach me patience, calm, and gentle resilience. He didn’t arrive in 2025, but every year, his peaceful influence deepens. I feel secure, grounded, and supported.
My work life became less chaotic. I found peace in the midst of surreal headlines and heartbreaking stories. I focused on what I could change. I built strong foundations — within my family, within my circle of influence. I helped others where I could, not always with money, but with care. And that grounded me.
For me, 2025 was a year of building the foundation I needed to create a beautiful 2026.
And now, we rise
Technically, a new year is just a reset on a random calendar. But symbolically, it’s an invitation: to rest, reflect, and rise.
And with the start of this calendar year, I’m officially launching Sanctuary of Wings. It’s a business, yes — but it’s also a path. A shared journey. A space to build a great year together, where we focus inward and outward, within our circle of influence.
We’ll work on building what we already have. We’ll find gratefulness. We’ll find peace. We’ll find strength.
What’s launching today
- Reflexion Journal: Our first free monthly journal starts today, January 1st. You can download it now and join me in daily reflection. I’ll be hosting short live events each day to fill out our pages together — a gentle accountability ritual I definitely need.
- Podcast with Paola: Later this month, my dear friend Paola and I will launch a podcast. I’m excited (and nervous!) to begin. Once we’re rolling, we’ll invite guests to join us — so if you’re local and have a business or expertise in self-care, growth, or healing, reach out.
- Monthly Resources: I’ll be releasing new resources every month — some premium, many free. You can check out our release schedule (subject to change, of course).
What I’m most excited about is writing this post next year — looking back at what changed, how we grew, and what we built together.
I hope you’ll join me in creating a calm, strong, and intentional 2026. Let’s make things happen — gently, powerfully, and with purpose.
With love,

Véronique is the founder and creator of Sanctuary of Wings, a space born from her search for peace after years of chaos. In 2023, her daughter’s diagnosis with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma reshaped her life. Through that journey she discovered the power of calm — lessons she continues to integrate into her own path. Two years later, caring for birds who had endured hardship yet slowly learned to fly became another living metaphor for renewal, reminding her that healing is a shared process of learning to spread our wings again.
Sanctuary of Wings is her dream, but not a finished destination — it is a journey she is still on, and one she hopes to share with others. Through journals, podcasts, and creative tools, Véronique opens space for collective reflection, where each person can bring their own experiences and together discover new ways of finding balance.
Her invitation is simple: to join her in seeking peace. Whether through daily rituals, creative expression, or shared conversation, Sanctuary of Wings is a place where we guide each other, gently and at our own pace.
